Dr. Fredrick Lewis, Senior Minister
Frederick Owen Lewis was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He earned a bachelor's degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee; his Master of Divinity at Eastern Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; then his Doctor of Ministry at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.
An American Baptist minister, Fred spent six years as Associate Minister at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia. In 1983, Fred became the Senior Minister of the Baptist Temple in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, the founding church of Temple University. In February 2005, he began as Senior Minister here at First Baptist Church of Indianapolis.
Fred and his wife Connie, have two adult children, Christopher and Timothy.
