Dr. Frederick Owen Lewis was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee; his Master of Divinity at Eastern Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; then his Doctor of Ministry at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.
An American Baptist minister, Fred spent six years as Associate Minister at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia. In 1983, Fred became the Senior Minister of the Baptist Temple in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, the founding church of Temple University. In February 2005, he began as Senior Minister here at First Baptist Church of Indianapolis.
Fred and his wife Connie, have two adult children, Christopher and Timothy and one grandson, Thomas.
Rev. Evan Bever joined the FBC ministerial staff as Associate Minister in July, 2012. A recent graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, Evan’s background includes an American Baptist heritage. He is a 2009 graduate of Purdue and loves Boilermaker football. He and his wife, Breanna, met at Green Lake Conference Center. Evan was ordained at FBC on May 19, 2013 and his focus includes mission, outreach, and worship while providing congregational and pastoral care.
Rev. George Boyd Kimsey has served in active Christian ministry for over 55 years. His background includes Youth Director, Minister of Christian Education, Minister of Visitation and Pastor. He and Joyce, his wife of over 50 years, have served in Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio.
Rev. Kimsey and his wife have four grown children: Dawn, Julie, Margean, and David as well as six grandchildren.
